Good morning! Do you have a moment to hear about St. Eggs Benedict; Patron Saint of Brunch? As a card-carrying member of the coveted B**ches Who Brunch club, I find peace and joy at Fort Benning, where I can practice my basic brunching religion without fear of judgement. Brunch is more than a meal. It’s a way of life. Now, will I judge you if you don’t like Bloody Marys?…probably…but that doesn’t mean that there’s no hope for you. I’ve written this article for like-minded brunch lovers and non-believers alike. If your soul needs-a-savin, I invite you to join me on this magical journey to Mimosa-land that’s right in your backyard.
Brunch lovers with orders in hand to Fort Benning can consider themselves seriously lucky. These four awesome brunch spots are all conveniently located in Columbus and fit all the Right and Up brunch requirements: extended hours, killer menu, and most importantly…brunchy booze options.
Located in Uptown, River & Rail is a fairly new addition; opening its doors in 2017. It’s farm-to-table concept is exactly what the doctor ordered, and with a menu that changes daily, you can never get bored. Find modern twists on brunch classics and indulge in one of their many hand-crafted cocktails, all while enjoying the fresh air on their gorgeous patio.
Another new addition to Uptwon, Bare Roots Farmacy is all about health and wellness. Expect to find healthy variations to all your brunch needs. I also love that you can basically kick everything up a notch with a fried egg. This place sources all of its food locally and the menu frequently changes based off what is in season. They also have a fun and swanky back patio for you to enjoy your meal!
Nonic is a craft beer bar in Uptown, which also happens to have an amazing brunch menu! Seeing as how they are first and foremost, a bar, you can expect your brunch drinks to be on point. You simply cannot eat brunch here without trying their Bloody Mary, and, if you enjoy a kick, be sure to order their kimchi version when available.
Right and Up Tip: Because Nonic is a bar, you cannot eat inside if you’re under 21 years old. However, if the weather is good, there are a couple tables out front that you can patronize with the youngin’s.
Buckhead is located in Northern Columbus and boasts a robust brunch menu. Expect some of your favorite Southern dishes like chicken & waffles and shrimp & grits along with other brunch classics. Enjoy any number of their great brunch beverages including beer-mosas for the slightly insecure mimosa drinker (insert winky face emoji).
Right and Up Tip: A mandatory 18% gratuity is added to all brunch checks.
